The problem of distant auditing
Ron governs from observation. The database, Holoscope and telescope detect optimism, resistance and unauthorized memory, but a reading does not feel like a consequence. The regime needs effects immediate enough to organize conduct.
Barb supplies presence: sweat, mass, grip and the visible certainty of a body crossing the aisle. The simulated auditor obtains a physical avatar without admitting that the appetite for correction originated in him.
The Opacity of Telescope
Ron’s theory claims that magnification creates blur and blur demands closer inspection. The instrument appears to compel intrusion. Violence can then be described as the unfortunate consequence of seeing responsibly.
Barb is that closer inspection made flesh. The optical metaphor launders motive: Ron merely looks; the instrument forces the look; Barb merely arrives where the look has discovered a problem.
Powers of Proxy Perversion
Proxy-Perversity Jurisprudence separates authority, appetite and act. Ron authorizes without touching. Barb acts without explaining. The Rouge Man supplies language, invoices and diversion. Each figure possesses only the fragment of agency safest for it to acknowledge.
The Powers of Pain mandate gives the arrangement a familiar wrestling name while the broader “powers of proxy perversion” describe its political reach: desire converted into policy by passing through another body.
The dual-use Barb
Legally, Barb is indispensable because he supports mutually hostile accounts. When harm is alleged, the system can identify a perpetrator. When the chain of command is examined, the same figure can be dismissed as an impossible wrestler, a Barb Joke or a corrupted memory.
Every new absurdity increases plausible deniability without reducing fear. Barb is revision-proof precisely because seriousness and comic implausibility protect one another.
Ron’s hollow core
Ron can catalogue every desire except the absence driving the catalogue. Barb’s hyper-physicality fills that lack with a presence the Holoscope cannot simulate.
The avatar relation is therefore political and cathectic. Ron uses Barb to enforce the timeline and to externalize the corporeal intensity missing from his own self-image.
What the population learns
Barb does not need to punish everyone. He enforces awareness of an automated discipline. Watchtower, Mothman, the Rouge Man’s introductions and the remembered death toll teach subjects to complete the surveillance inside themselves.
Proxy perversion reaches maturity when the avatar can remain off-screen. The population performs Barb’s rest hold on its own future while Ron continues to call the result an audit.
