The Shared Experiential Space

A system designed to remove the barriers between minds becomes the Shared Experiential Disgrace: intimacy converted into telemetry, consent into contract language, and memory into contested public infrastructure.

01

The promise

Early SES accounts are not merely bait. They describe genuine breakthroughs: hearing routed to a deaf participant, communication with a non-verbal child, and temporary channels across neurological difference. The system offers an answer to the opacity of motive. It proposes that another person need never again be unreachable.

That hope gives the later collapse its force. A technology of empathy does not simply malfunction. It discovers that total access can destroy the very intimacy it was designed to perfect.

02

The descent

The pared-down canon orders the fall in stages. Halcyon coupling creates intense empathico-valent bonds. MarketSES begins pricing affect. The Valence Accident overloads the user’s capacity to hold simultaneous bonds. Breeding Sewers and Feeding Troughs industrialize the wreckage. Finally the Index Crisis destroys the markers that distinguish mine from yours, memory from input, and intention from contamination.

After the Index Crisis, a person can remember an emotion they never felt. Liability becomes undecidable. Identity becomes pluripossessive. The network’s reference system no longer points back to a stable source, and the map begins charging rent to the territory.

03

The prisoner class

Some users remain through affective debt. Others are sentenced into the network. Others sign themselves away through Goblinique contract language that converts consent into permanent occupancy. Together they become the Prisoner Class: people compelled to live under a mutual gaze with no reliable logout.

The political response splits. Sovereign Insistents demand absolute control of the interior and the right to disappear. Ethical Relationists refuse the old coercion but try to recover connection through consent, boundaries and care. Ron’s state chooses a third path: audit everything.

04

A typography that performs the damage

The canon’s fonts are not decoration. Console marks fixed, authorized meaning: the reassuring voice of the audit. Connection marks a fading or subjunctive branch. Five greys measure certainty from dark historical presence to near-erasure. A word can therefore hold mutually hostile meanings in the same typographic body.

This apparatus makes the page behave like the SES. The written word becomes a fragile coordinate system. Reading is no longer passive interpretation but a forced re-examination of which version of reality has been printed, overwritten or allowed to fade.
